stefanie cohen

Since childhood, Stefanie Cohen has worked and played best in collaboration -- with other artists, with her own body and others’ and with the cycles of nature -- responding to and elaborating upon magical and mysterious images as they appear between them. Her focus as somatic therapist and artist is the integration of bodily awareness, contemplative practice, spiritual mystery, and creative process.

She is an intermediate level student in the Somatic ExperiencingTM modality of embodied trauma therapy, holds a Masters in Dance and Somatic Well-Being from the University of Central Lancashire, UK,  and is registered as both a Somatic Movement Educator and Therapist through the International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association (ISMETA).

She lives and works in Detroit, with her life partner and interdisciplinary art collaborator, Corey Gearhart, on the historic, ancestral and present day lands of the Anishinaabe peoples.
